Subterranean Limestone Mine Portal

Project Description

Depicted in the photograph is the portal to a 600-acre subterranean limestone mine located in both the Village of Bartlett and the City of Elgin. Our firm represented the landowner in negotiating the necessary zoning to allow the subterranean mining, which involved blasting. We also negotiated the long-term lease with the current mining company. Additionally, in order to finance the construction of the surface site improvements on this 600-acre site, our firm represented the landowner in its transactions with the municipalities and the lenders to set up a special service area taxing district for the public improvements that will serve the overall industrial park.
